It must be Christmas...........
This post is for all the Bad Brains boys and girls that Fat Lad normally rides with!
A couple weeks ago at the Bad Brains 15th Anniversary party (which a certain husband has yet to write up!!!) Fat Lad won a prize, a very special prize, that's right he won the Kim and Aggie prize for the dirtiest bike in the club!
Now some of you will have noticed that Fat Lad's bike is never the cleanest bike, in fact it is safe to say that he doesn't have a post ride cleaning ritual - even though he is slightly autistic in his pre ride prep (helmet, gloves, bandana - repeated several times as he rushed round the kitchen)!
In fact his bike can go a number of rides in between cleans!
So just to prove that it does happen every now and again I give you Fat Lad cleaning his bike!!
This is the part where Fat Lad discovered that he had broken spokes on both the front and back wheels, he was not a happy little cyclist!
And this is just to show how bad the bike actually was before Fat Lad washed it..
Fat Lad washing his bike........it must be Christmas!

Hey there:) Nice bike Fat Lad! I have the exact same one here in London.
But unlike you, I won't be winning any prizes for the dirtiest bike;) In fact I usually wash "Elvis" (The King) after every ride...especially if he has been caked in mud.
You may be thinking just how one gets a bike so muddy in London? Believe me when I say there is plenty of mud here in London (Richmond Park) and just 20 or so miles away in the car brings you to The Surrey Hills which after rain should be renamed The Slurry Hills! But it's all good fun.
Also, my reasons for washing him often is that he simply works better and the pivotal points that make up the rear suspension don't squeak where they often do when the bike has dirt on. Plus he is lighter in weight and much prettier to look at too;)
Just a quick word regarding your broken spokes...I have suffered from two broken spokes (one on each wheel at different times) since I got Elvis back in April this year (2007) and have been told by the guys who sold it to me (Nirvana Cycles in Westcott) that it may be because of the kind of riding that I do (which is not alway cross country, which The King is basically for) may be breaking the spokes. He said it was the alloy lightweight nipples that come with the bike that are breaking and just aren't strong enough. All you have to do is replace all your nipples with stronger brass ones. Simple.
Nice blogging with you dude:)

Attaboy, F.L.! A clean bike is a happy bike, and all that. It was so foggy and wet here in Tallahassee yesterday, that I just kept telling myself, "Fat Lad has to deal with this all the time, so get over it!".
Al cleaning his bike!!! Those photo's can't be genuine. Go on admit it you've photoshopped the mud off.
